Assistant Manager – Research

[Contract Position]

Job Description:

SINDA seeks a detail-oriented individual to join our Finance team and play a key role in strengthening financial governance, enhancing operational efficiency, and supporting digital and AI-driven transformation initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in finance processes and documentation and be able to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance, accuracy, and continuous improvement.

 

Key responsibilities:

Impact Assessment

  • Monitor and review the implementation of organisational impact metrics and ensure alignment with the overall impact framework.
  • Maintain and enhance the impact assessment framework to support prioritisation, evaluation, and continuous improvement of SINDA programmes and services.
  • Facilitate impact clinics, discussions, and workshops with internal divisions and stakeholders to strengthen impact measurement practices.

Research & Programme Evaluation

  • Lead and manage end-to-end research and programme evaluation projects, including: conducting literature reviews, designing research methodologies, developing research instrument, overseeing data collection and analysis
  • Ensure research activities are conducted in accordance with ethical standards and organisational guidelines
  • Oversee the preparation of research reports, presentations, and insights for senior management and key stakeholders
  • Review and validate research outputs to ensure accuracy, quality, and alignment with organisational strategic objectives
  • Support the dissemination of research findings in collaboration with internal divisions and stakeholders
  • Curate, organise, and share relevant statistics to support organisational needs
  • Maintain and manage the organisation’s centralised research repository

Strategic Review, Work Planning & Landscape Scans

  • Support the development and tracking of key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor progress against strategic goals.
  • Assist in organisation-wide and divisional work planning exercises, including stakeholder coordination and review processes.
  • Contribute to the ongoing strategic review, including preparing reports and presentations for senior leadership.
  • Oversee environmental scanning activities and produce insights on trends, challenges, and opportunities related to the organisation’s key strategic priorities.

Team Management & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Guide and mentor research staff in research design, methodology, and best practices.
  • Supervise and guide team members in delivering high-quality outputs while fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Support the management of the Research Subcommittee.
  • Communicate research findings clearly and effectively to both internal and external stakeholders, tailoring content to diverse audiences.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders to support research and organisational objectives.
  • Collaborate with internal departments and represent the research function in cross-functional or middle management projects and committees.

 

Requirements

  • Masters or bachelor’s degree in social work, Psychology, Sociology, Behavioural Sciences, Statistics, or a related discipline.
  • At least 4 years of relevant experience in research, programme evaluation, or impact assessment, preferably within the social service sector, with exposure to Theory of Change or impact measurement frameworks is an advantage
  • Strong understanding of community issues and trends in the social service sector
  • Good knowledge of descriptive and inferential statistics, with strong data literacy.
  • Proficient in SPSS, Tableau, Power BI, and Excel; knowledge of Python or R is a plus.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to derive actionable insights from data.
  • Excellent written and communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational and multitasking abilities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented, adaptable, and able to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Demonstrated leadership and mentoring skills, with the ability to support team success and achieve shared goals.
